Although it didn’t top rival AT&T, Verizon Wireless reported strong growth with 1.6 million net new subscribers in third quarter 2007 bringing its total subscriber base to 63.7 million. The DSL Forum released IPTV penetration statistics this week that chart a fivefold increase in subscribers from 2005 to mid-2007. As of June 30, the worldwide subscriber base for IPTV services reached 8.2 million, up from nearly 1.5 million on the same date in 2005.
