Ofcom demands 999 access by 2008
VoIP providers in the U.K. have until 2008 to offer 999 emergency access. U.K. regulator Ofcom says VoIP looks and feels so much like traditional phones that people are confused about their ability to use 999. Ofcom research reveals that 78 percent of VoIP users who cannot use their service to call 999 either thought they could or didn’t know if they could use it.
