VoIP needs the last mile
Could VoIP become a victim of its own success? An interesting piece in VoIP News suggests that telcos may not be willing to terminate an increasing volume of VoIP calls forever, unless they’re paid better for the privilege. Remember too that Net Neutrality could allow carriers to block or degrade service for traffic that they’re not paid to carry. And lastly, the international regulatory environment is not always stable, and governments could decide to block VoIP calling for any one of a list of reasons–legitimate or otherwise. No action items for today, but lots of food for thought.
