Security of Voip Examined
As mushrooms follow the spring rain, security companies are lining up to exploit last week’s arrest of two hackers who allegedly broke into VoIP carriers’ networks and are accused of stealing millions of dollars worth of bandwidth. Some security consultants are worried about VoIP viruses. Others are worried about phishing schemes. Still others point to the issue of over-ambitious users making corporate networks vulnerable. And some raise the specter of federal regulators paying a visit to hacked companies to conduct compliance audits. Bottom line: VoIP security is important, but no more important than it was the week before last. Just like any other network technology, it pays to be careful out there–but think twice about paranoia
