UPC announces 1M VoIP customer milestone
UPC Broadband, Liberty Global’s European broadband division, has reached the 1 millionth VoIP customer milestone within its European footprint. UPC Broadband has doubled the number of cable telephony customers over the last 15 months, driven mainly by VoIP. This reinforces the company’s strategy to provide VoIP as an integral part of triple play services to its customers. UPC is also evaluating the eventual deployment of a VoIP/SIP-based converged product portfolio, including fixed-to-mobile services. UPC Broadband currently offers VoIP telephony service in seven European markets and plans to introduce it in three more. Key partners such as Nortel, Siemens, AudioCodes, ARRIS and Scientific-Atlanta have helped UPC with the roll out.
