Avici posts record revenue growth
Fueled by revenue from major customer AT&T, Avici Systems has announced record quarterly revenue of $21.4 million, a 100 percent increase over the same period last year. AT&T, which accounted for more than 75 percent of the quarter’s revenue, has deployed Avici’s TSR core router in 16 locations within its North American IP backbone network, and the vendor expects continued deployments in additional locations. Based on these expectations, Avici has raised its annual revenue guidance by 50 percent. With the proposed AT&T-BellSouth merger, Avici clearly appears to be on a winning streak, with its stock spiraling up by more than 84 percent by this morning. Other revenue-generating customers during the quarter were European SURFnet and IP-Only Telecommunication, which came via partner Nortel.
