Level 3’s 3rd cable contract in 3 months
Broadband provider Charter Communications and wholesaler Level 3 have extended their relationship with a new, multi-year agreement. Charter was experiencing a significant consumer demand and is responding by expanding consumer and small business telephone services with Level 3. Level 3’s (3)VoIP Enhanced Local service should enable Charter to reduce the time-to-market associated with its deployment of VoIP based services.
Cable is an important segment for Level 3. This agreement marks Level 3’s third cable contract win in the last three months; the company now provides services to nearly all of the major cable providers. In late 2005, Level 3 announced new contract wins with Comcast, Adelphia, United Online and Patriot Media. Level 3 makes it attractive for cable operators by providing quick access to E-911 enabled VoIP services to areas encompassing more than 69 percent of all U.S. households. This also enables MSOs to focus on marketing and differentiating their services versus building the network required to deliver them.
