Alltel to buy Midwest Wireless
Nov 18, 2005 — NEW YORK (Reuters) - Leading rural telephone operator Alltel Corp.
The deal, which gives Alltel 400,000 customers in markets next to its existing operations, follows its $4.5 billion purchase of Western Wireless earlier this year.
Analysts said the deal made sense for Alltel, the fifth-biggest U.S. wireless firm, as it looks to expand in the competitive market, dominated by four national operators.
